Monty Python’s Terry Jones produced and presented a range of interesting, funny and well-documented historical documentaries. His ‘Medieval Lives’ ranks as one the best, as its Emmy-award nomination proofs.
In this series Jones takes a refreshing look at some typical medieval stereotypes. He shows how the life of a peasant or king probably wasn’t at all how we expect it to be. As Jones says, “History isn’t necessarily what happened. It’s often what people want us to think happened”. With a lot of humor Jones shows the bright side of the Middle Ages.
