Edward I, nicknamed Longshanks (1239-1307) for his length (1.88) dedicated his reign as monarch of England to the love of his life: The single minded pursuit of imperial power over the whole island. Edward Longshanks was the first truly English king of the house of the Plantagenets, whom were first of all French. Born in England, he created the British Empire.

This documentary focuses on his reign, his ruthless subjugation of the Welsh, and his efforts to conquer the Scottish highlands. Edward took the funds for his wars from some of his most vulnerable subjects: the Jews. By taxation and expulsion of the Jewish community.
